Seahawks Announce RB Zach Charbonnet’s Replacement for NFC Championship Game vs. Rams

Seattle reshuffles its backfield after Zach Charbonnet’s injury, signaling how the Seahawks plan to attack the Rams in the NFC Championship.

The Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl hopes took another sharp turn late in the week. After Zach Charbonnet was placed on injured reserve, the Seahawks were forced to reshuffle key offensive pieces.

And the decision says plenty about the Seahawks’ urgency, depth, and trust heading into their biggest game of the season.

Seattle Makes Its Move After Zach Charbonnet Goes Down

The Seahawks officially activated running back George Holani from injured reserve ahead of the NFC Championship Game, per NFL insider Adam Schefter. “Seahawks activated RB George Holani and TE Elijah Arroyo off injured reserve ahead of Sunday’s NFC championship game versus the Rams,” Schefter said.

Charbonnet led Seattle with 12 rushing touchdowns during the regular season and was a central part of the Seahawks’ physical identity. With the season on the line, Seattle needed a dependable replacement behind Kenneth Walker III. Holani now steps into that role.

Holani last played in Week 12 before being sidelined with a hamstring injury. In his limited appearances this season, he carried the ball 22 times for 73 yards and scored his first NFL touchdown in a Week 10 victory over Arizona. While the numbers are modest, his value extends beyond the stat sheet. Holani has been a steady special teams contributor and brings familiarity with Seattle’s system at a time when there is little room for adjustment.

“It feels great to be back with the guys,” Holani said earlier this week. “Been a while, so I’m excited to get back out there.”

Seattle also activated rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo from injured reserve, adding another pass-catching option for quarterback Sam Darnold. Arroyo missed the final four regular-season games and last week’s Divisional Round win with a knee injury. In 13 games this season, he recorded 15 receptions for 179 yards and one touchdown.

To make room on the 53-man roster, Seattle also placed guard Bryce Cabeldue on injured reserve. Seattle will face a Rams defense led by edge rusher Byron Young. He has 12 sacks and is expected to play despite knee soreness. For the Seahawks to keep the pressure off Darnold and control the game’s tempo, finding balance on offense will be key.

Holani doesn’t need to replace Charbonnet’s production. His assignment is more straightforward. Protect the football. Provide steady carries. Support Walker in a hostile, high-stakes environment.

With a chance to reach the Super Bowl on the line, Seattle is not just looking for potential. They’re counting on trust, readiness, and the next player to rise to the occasion.
