Michael Macdonald arrives at Super Bowl 60 as the Seahawks’ second-year head coach. He is a living case study of how two of football’s most influential coaching bloodlines shape careers. His rise runs straight through the Harbaugh universe, molded by John in Baltimore and sharpened by Jim in Ann Arbor, with each stop accelerating a climb that once began as a Ravens intern and now ends on the league’s biggest stage.
Now, as Macdonald prepares for the moment of his life under the brightest lights, the football connections are easy to trace. However, the personal foundation behind him matters just as much, starting with his superstar wife.
Who Is Mike Macdonald’s Wife, Stephanie?
Mike and Stephanie got married in 2021, long before his move to Seattle, and their relationship has followed him through college football, the NFL grind, and now the Super Bowl spotlight.
Stephanie met Mike in 2015 when both were part of the Baltimore Ravens organization. At the time, she was a cheerleader, and he was on the coaching staff. During a December 2022 appearance on The Purple Chair Podcast, she explained that they initially crossed paths without fully understanding each other’s roles.
When she eventually realized he was a coach, her reaction was immediate. “We can’t do this,” she told him, aware of professional boundaries within the organization.
Their timing worked itself out. That season turned out to be Stephanie’s final year with the Ravens, and after it ended, they reconnected. By March 2016, once she had officially left the team, they began dating. What followed was a steady relationship that kept pace with Mike’s coaching ascent, from Baltimore to Michigan and back to the NFL.
Stephanie brought her own deep football background into the marriage. A Virginia Tech alum, she cheered in the NFL for eight years, spending time with the Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, and Washington Commanders.
“Each team had such a special place in my heart,” she said, later calling her selection as a Ravens Pro Bowl cheerleader in 2014 her favorite moment. “You’re not expecting it,” she recalled. “Every single person on the team is so deserving.”
Beyond cheerleading, Stephanie is also a singer. During her time with Washington, she sang the national anthem before a game, an experience she described, as saying: “That’s something I’ll never forget.” Even later, while living in Baltimore, she balanced church performances on Sundays with racing to M&T Bank Stadium to support Mike. “Usually, I was pulling into the parking lot as the flyover is happening.”
The couple got engaged in 2019 and married in 2021. After Mike’s one-year stint as Michigan’s defensive coordinator, Stephanie reflected publicly on that chapter. “Thank you for bringing me to one of the greatest cities in the world,” she wrote on X. “For letting me share the excitement with you, and for making me feel loved & appreciated during one of the most chaotic & rewarding years of our lives.”

In early December 2024, their lives changed again when they welcomed their first child, Jack David Macdonal. Mike announced the news at a press conference the next day. “Steph had our boy last night, and both are happy and healthy,” he said. Then he paused to focus on her. “What women can do is just an unbelievable thing. What a warrior she is.”
When Mike was introduced as Seattle’s head coach in 2024, Stephanie was front and center. “My wife Stephanie is an absolute rock star,” he said before taking questions. “You’ll get to know her, and this city will fall in love with her.”
Standing nearby, Stephanie shared her own reaction. “It’s just incredible, we’re so lucky,” she said. “Walking in and having that warm welcome, I’m like, ‘Alright, this is where we’re meant to be.’”
Now, as Mike prepares for Super Bowl 60 in just his second season as a head coach, Stephanie remains what he has consistently called his rockstar.
