Saints Announce Devastating Season-Ending Injury for RB

The New Orleans Saints lost much more than a game on Sunday, and they will now be without one of their primary ball-carriers.

The New Orleans Saints lost much more than just a game on Sunday. They couldn’t get much going on offense against the Chicago Bears, and their 26-14 loss was a costly one.

On top of losing C Eric McCkoy for the season, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that they will also have to get by without backup RB Kendre Miller.

Injury Woes Mount for Saints Running Back Kendre Miller

“Sources: #Saints RB Kendre Miller tore his ACL on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season,” Schultz wrote on X. “A tough blow for Miller, who was starting to carve out a role in the offense with 193 rushing yards and 1 TD on the year.”

The Saints took the 23-year-old out of TCU with the No. 71 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He made just eight appearances as a rookie and six with two starts last season, but he had played in all seven game this season, serving as Alvin Kamara’s primary backup.

Miller suffered the injury early on Sunday, and this might be the end of the road for him in the Big Easy, as he hasn’t been able to stay healthy since he entered the league. So far, he’s had issues with his meniscus and hamstrings, and the Saints might choose to part ways with him after the season.

Will The Saints Trade Alvin Kamara?

Now, Kellen Moore will be severely undermanned at running back. Devin Neal will most likely be Alvin Kamara’s backup, assuming he even stays.

The veteran running back has been tangled up in multiple trade rumors this season, and at 1-6, the Saints will be wise to explore all their options. When asked about that, he claimed that he wanted to stay in New Orleans:

“I don’t know where that came from, but I think I’ve been vocal enough that. I don’t want to go anywhere,” Kamara told ESPN’s Katherine Terell.

“And I said it countless times, y’all know that. I think everybody knows that. The fan base knows that. And at the end of the day, it’s business. So I don’t go upstairs, and I don’t have an office upstairs. I got an office in Charlotte at NASCAR, but I don’t got an office upstairs, so I don’t really sit in those meetings, and I don’t really know what happens up there.”

Kamara has spent his entire career with the franchise, and whiel he’s 30 years old already, he continues to be a driving force out of the backfield.

So far, he’s turned 94 carries into 342 rushing yards and one touchdown, adding 25 receptions on 29 targets for 123 yards.
