The spotlight around Peyton Manning’s son, Marshall Manning, is already growing despite the quarterback being just 15 years old.
Marshall, a Class of 2030 prospect, recently made his varsity debut for Tennessee powerhouse Baylor School, and one early completion was enough to send social media into a frenzy.

Marshall entered the game against Brentwood Academy in a limited role and completed his first varsity pass on a rollout.
The moment quickly went viral, with fans and media already speculating about his future despite him being only a freshman.
U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, who represents Tennessee, offered a reminder that Marshall is still just a teenager. “He knows he’s Peyton’s kid and Archie’s grandson. Let him have some fun and be a kid,” Burchett said.
That message comes with plenty of context. Marshall is the grandson of Archie Manning, the son of Peyton Manning, the nephew of Eli Manning, and the cousin of Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
With that family history, comparisons are inevitable. But Burchett’s comments highlight the danger of putting too much pressure on a young player before he has had the opportunity to develop.

Marshall Manning Not Yet Baylor’s Starting QB
While social media focused heavily on Marshall’s brief appearance, he is not currently Baylor’s starting quarterback.
That role belongs to senior Keegan Croucher, a four-star recruit committed to Ole Miss. Baylor’s coaching staff is instead taking a patient approach with Marshall, giving him opportunities in specific packages and late-game situations.
“We planned it,” Baylor head coach Erik Kimrey said. “I want Marshall to play in every game this year, even if it’s just like two plays like that. Hopefully it’ll be a lot more, but I felt like we need him next year, and he needs to get ready… We planned the plays he was gonna run, and he went in there and did a good job.”

The plan allows Marshall to gain varsity experience without putting too much responsibility on his shoulders.
Marshall’s viral moment was only a small part of Baylor’s 38-20 victory over Brentwood Academy.
The biggest impact came from five-star Tennessee running back commit David Gabriel-Georges, who finished with 250 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.
For now, Marshall’s role remains developmental. His storied last name will continue to attract attention, but his early varsity appearances suggest Baylor is focused on allowing him to grow gradually.
With the Manning family name comes unavoidable scrutiny. Still, as Burchett’s message suggests, giving Marshall the chance to enjoy high school football may be more important than rushing to predict what his college or NFL future will look like.
