NFL World Reacts to Giants’ ‘Power Struggle’ Between Joe Schoen and John Harbaugh After Awkward Interview

The Giants should have a busy offseason, and hiring Harbaugh is a great start, but keeping GM Joe Schoen was questionable.

After the season the New York Giants went through, bouncing back and turning this franchise around is a must in 2026. The good news is that they may have their QB of the future, Jaxson Dart.

New York needed to pair their QB with a great coach to lead their team, and the Giants landed arguably the best coach on the market to get it done, John Harbaugh. The Giants should have a busy offseason, and hiring Harbaugh is a great start, but keeping GM Joe Schoen was questionable.

NFL Fans Around Social Media React to GM Joe Schoen’s Interesting Interview

Today, the Giants held their introductory press conference for Harbaugh, and one of the biggest storylines entering the event was the relationship between the GM and the new HC.

When the news broke that Harbaugh is working on his deal with the Giants, one of the main details being ironed out was the front office, in particular, Harbaugh having final say over moves.

This turned out to be true, and it seems Harbaugh will have the final say on decisions, allowing him to override Schoen. When asked about this clause in the contract, this was Schoen’s reaction:

Schoen, trying to explain that the two must work together, while that clause is just “something that’s on a piece of paper” that doesn’t matter, drew some strong reactions across the NFL world:

YouTube NFL content creator Mikerophone posted, “The Harbaugh – Schoen power struggle is the most obvious thing ever. Giants should’ve just fired Schoen the minute their season was over…”

NFL news account SleeperNFL reacted with a Michael Jordan crying meme. No captions, just plain reactions.

“An underrated note of this presser is Joe Schoen may be terrified of John Harbaugh. Ain’t that right Joe,” Justin Penik, “Talkin’ Giants” co-host, pointed out.

NFL news account, JPA declared, “Joe Schoen is not worried about the collaborative process with John Harbaugh, and says him reporting to the Owner “is just something on a piece of paper, it doesn’t matter.” He might be in denial.”

Looking at the reactions, it seems the entire NFL World is in agreement that keeping Schoen was, and still is, a mistake by the Giants. There is still time to make a change, but will they do it?
