The first two weeks of the NFL season have gone about as wrong as the worst Chicago Bears’ nightmare. After giving up an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1, they were blasted for 52 points by the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
As a result, hope is quickly dying out for a fan base that expected things to be different under a new head coach in Ben Johnson. To make matters worse, the team may be missing arguably their best offensive player through two weeks, D’Andre Swift.
After an excellent start to the season, Swift’s status for a Week 3 tilt against the Dallas Cowboys is firmly up in the air.
Will D’Andre Swift Play Against the Dallas Cowboys?
Officially, his status remains questionable against Dallas. A quadriceps injury has limited him in practice all week, with zero full participations through three practices. However, NFL insider Jeff Fowler confirmed on Saturday that Swift is expected to play in Week 3.
So far, Chicago has maintained the questionable status around him. But his play is going to be a necessity for the team if they want to register the first win of their season. The Dallas Cowboys’ defense hasn’t looked like world beaters by any stretch, but they aren’t pushovers.
QB Caleb Williams is yet to take that jump in his sophomore season, even with Johnson as his new head coach. As a result, a reliable name in the running game could help alleviate some of the pressure on their potential franchise quarterback.
This season, Swift has been used judiciously by the Bears, with 29 carries through two games amounting to 116 yards and a touchdown. If Swift is somehow limited during the game, the brunt of the load on the ground is going to fall on backup Kyle Monangai.

Taken in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Monangai was a revelation at Rutgers, tallying over 1,200 yards in each of his final two years at the program. After getting no burn in Week 1, the rookie got seven carries against the Lions.
D’Andre Swift is questionable going into Sunday.

Adding 28 yards, he showed some flashes of potential that the Bears could look to exploit against Dallas. Beyond him, though, the running back room is extremely thin for Chicago, with Roschon Johnson, who has so far only been used on special teams, as the other option.
These two historical NFC squads will face off in Chicago at 4:25 p.m. ET on local FOX affiliates.
