Mark Andrews has been among the best tight ends in the NFL since the Baltimore Ravens selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. While he has already set the franchise record for most career touchdowns – along with several other records – he became the target of the fanbase during Baltimore’s latest postseason run.
With the Ravens trailing the Buffalo Bills 27-25 with 1:33 left to play in the NFL Divisional Round, Andrews was wide open on a 2-point conversion attempt that would have tied the game. In a moment uncharacteristic for himself, he was unable to haul the pass in. He recently weighed in on the big drop, as well as the recent offseason trade rumors surrounding him.
Mark Andrews Weighs In on Costly Drop, Trade Rumors
Mark Andrews recently sat down with Jamison Hensley of ESPN, where he discussed, arguably, the biggest miscue of his football career. The Ravens’ tight end revealed that his gloves were soaked after falling into the snow on the previous play before adding:
“I’m thinking, ‘Do I take it off? Do I not?’ It was so fast and so quick that it just happened, and at the end of the day, I still should have caught the ball. I still should have made that play. That’s sports, man. Things happen. I know the type of player that I am, what I can do, and it is what it is. It was tough, wasn’t the best gam,e and I’m looking forward to redemption.”
Andrews noted that he hasn’t had any conversations with the front office regarding a potential trade ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft before stating:
“I know the Ravens, and my relationship is incredibly strong. I trust in [Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta] and everybody there over at the Ravens, and there’s nothing on my end really to share. For me, it’s just been working hard this offseason and trying to get in the best shape of my life, trying to have the best season of my life coming up and winning a Super Bowl.”
Andrews is set to enter the final year of a four-year, $56 million contract extension that he signed prior to the 2021 season. The Ravens could gain $11 million in cap space by parting with the three-time Pro Bowler and have Isaiah Likely on the roster as a potential replacement. While they appear unlikely to move the star tight end, that could change during this week’s draft.
