For over a month, it seems the entire NFL world has been focused squarely on the Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini scandal. Even as the draft and schedule release have come and gone, it remains the hottest topic in the sport. But for one NFL star, the incessant attention has become a bit too much.
Marlon Humphrey Takes Issue With Coverage of Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel Scandal
The whole drama around the Patriots’ head coach began with a leaked picture of him and Russini in Arizona. At the time, both parties tried to downplay the situation.
However, Russini later had to step down from her role at The Athletic. Meanwhile, Vrabel shared that he had difficult conversations with his family and the Patriots organization, and he missed the third day of the 2026 NFL Draft to seek counseling.
Still, new information about the two hasn’t stopped pouring in. Boat rentals, alleged Spotify playlists, and even old interview logs are being constantly analyzed under a magnifying glass by what seems like the entire internet.
Marlon Humphrey, a cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens, has always been outspoken on social media. As the scandal remains in the spotlight, the four-time Pro Bowler seems to have had enough.
“I really don’t understand why this app is so interested with a Vrabel cheating,” Humphrey wrote on X. “It’s a lot going on for sure but who cares lol.”
While his argument seems fair on the surface, the focus falls on two primary reasons. The obvious one is the interest from a gossip standpoint. But even on a football level, the constant news cycle has painted the Patriots in an egregiously negative light.
After Vrabel missed the third day of the draft, alarm bells started going off about what this could mean for the rest of the offseason. If he continues to opt out of team activities all summer long, or even during the season, then the franchise might step in to make a decision.

Moreover, in the schedule release video, the Los Angeles Chargers took a dig at the scandal involving Vrabel and Russini. It shows that the Patriots’ head coach will remain a talking point throughout the season, and since New England will also play in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Vrabel’s name will stay in the headlines.
On the surface, the entire situation is just gossip fodder. But it is also one potential revelation away from changing the NFL’s entire landscape.
