The Baltimore Ravens sparked endless debate around the NFL after backing out of a trade agreement for Maxx Crosby before pivoting to sign Trey Hendrickson. Social media has been buzzing ever since. A former NFL linebacker and current analyst was one of many who did not hold back when sharing his thoughts on what the decision says about the Ravens.
Emmanuel Acho Calls Ravens’ Decision a ‘Dirty’ Move
Speaking on his show “SpeakEasy,“ former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho criticized Baltimore’s handling of the situation and suggested the organization may have strategically shifted away from the Crosby deal once Hendrickson remained available.
“Dirty by the Ravens. “And the reason I think it’s dirty by the Ravens,I think it’s intentional,” Acho said. “I think the Ravens have looked around and said, wait a second, Trey Hendrickson, you still on the street? Nobody’s paying top dollar or secondary top dollar for you? Wait a second, we can get you, Trey Hendrickson, for significantly cheaper than Maxx Crosby and keep two first-round picks?”
Acho then laid out the scenario he believes could have unfolded behind the scenes. He continued by describing how Baltimore would justify backing out of the trade.
“Oh, hold on a second. Max, oh, that knee that kept you out of the last two games of the season? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that knee bad. That knee bad. It’s worse than we thought. Go back to the Raiders. Let’s keep these first-round picks. Let’s get Trey Hendrickson and let’s keep it pushing.”
The SpeakEasy account later shared the clip on X that highlighted Acho’s reaction to the Ravens backing out of their trade agreement for Crosby. Hendrickson had not yet agreed to a deal with Baltimore at the time.
Maxx Crosby Trade Collapse Sets Off Chain Reaction
Baltimore had originally lined up a major trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby. The agreement reportedly included two first-round picks highlighted by the Ravens’ No. 14 selection in the upcoming draft.
Damn, the SPEAKEASY fam heard Acho call this exact Ravens move last night! 😳

The deal unraveled Tuesday night when Crosby failed his physical with Baltimore. Under NFL rules, every trade must be completed with a successful medical evaluation before it becomes official.
Crosby is currently recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus that ended his 2025 season. His agent later stated that the five-time Pro Bowler remains ahead of schedule in the recovery process. Once the trade fell through, Baltimore quickly shifted its focus.
The Ravens soon reached a four-year $112 million agreement with Hendrickson on Wednesday. The move gave the team an established edge rusher without surrendering the draft capital that would have been required to land Crosby.
Both players graded highly in PFSN’s NFL EDGE Impact Metrics last season. Hendrickson finished 12th overall. Crosby ranked second. Hendrickson remains an elite pass rusher but has often faced criticism for limitations against the run and setting the edge.
Baltimore needed pass rush help after recording only 30 sacks last season. Hendrickson fills that void, though the fallout from the failed Crosby trade ensures the conversation around how the Ravens got there is far from over.
