The 2026 NFL Draft has already had some crazy moments and surprising selections, but what just happened may take the cake.
With all expectations for the Los Angeles Rams to go for a wide receiver, they end up investing in the future, selecting QB Ty Simpson.

The only reason the Rams are selecting at pick 13 is the trade they made with the Atlanta Falcons last year, and they take advantage of being in that spot. As I mentioned, many believe the pick would be a WR, which would be the win-now move, but the Rams instead plan for a future beyond QB Matthew Stafford.
In PFSN’s NFL Draft HQ, Simpson had an 84.2 grade, and this selection was given a D- grade.
With how shocking it was, and how much it focuses on the future, many around the NFL World had some major reactions:

As I mentioned, this was a shocking move, but for the future of the Rams, it could be one we look at in a few years as an excellent selection. Simpson will now be able to develop behind Stafford and potentially become a great QB.
