The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for the 2025 season and have high expectations for their team, particularly their offense. Matthew Stafford is back under center for his age-37 season, and the Rams have a roster strong enough to contend for the Super Bowl. One interesting aspect of their roster is the depth at the running back position.
This offseason, they signed Kyren Williams to a three-year extension, and he will be their lead back. However, Williams will not be the only one who gets work. Two other backups on the Rams’ roster should be a valued part of the offense. The depth chart currently stands as Williams, Blake Corum, and Jarquez Hunter. Here is what you need to know about the backups on their roster.
Who is Blake Corum?
The Rams selected Corum in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He rushed the ball 58 times for 207 yards and zero touchdowns last season. Although his production was underwhelming, he did not receive many opportunities as a rookie. Yet, heading into the 2025 season, the Rams appear to expect to split the workload more between Williams and Corum.
According to ‘Pro Football Talk,’ Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur mentioned that the team will likely see a more even split of touches this season. LaFleur said, “It benefits everyone to make sure that you’re not just wearing someone down or overusing somebody. The plan is to split those up a little bit and distribute, whether it’s the run or the pass game, and making sure people are involved within the scheme.”

Corum showed flashes during the preseason, and it would not be surprising to see him improve in his second season. He will be Williams’s primary backup.
Who is Jarquez Hunter?
Another running back who could play a role this season is rookie Jarquez Hunter. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft and played well during his first preseason. Hunter will likely play a significant role on special teams during his first season, but he could also be involved in the offense.
Jarquez Hunter made good decisions, showed some juice, and handled pass protection well. I liked Blake Corum’s tape, too.

While Williams will still be the “bell-cow,” it is safe to assume he has fewer touches this season than he did last. The Rams have built strong running back depth and plan to use it. This offense has the potential to be one of the best in the NFL.
