To this point, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams has enjoyed a stellar career. In the NFL, each position boasts a brotherhood, a network of players that understands what the position entails, from the benefits to the stressors.
However, that unofficial fraternal order remains competitive, as members always want to be the best among their peers. As a result, accomplishments and records become pursuits that help define players, whether it’s awards, contracts, or on-field efforts.
LA Rams WR Davante Adams Opens Up About Friendly Rivalry With Tampa Bay WR Mike Evans
If you read Adams’ career accomplishments, you can see much that could align with wide receivers in the Hall of Fame. First, the six Pro Bowls look like a sound start. Next, three All-Pro nods strengthen his case. Additionally, five seasons with 100 or more catches stand out, as do the six 1,000-yard seasons.
Plus, his 11,844 yards rank him 33rd all-time. Still, for all of those numbers, one specific stat should open the doors to Canton. With 103 receiving touchdowns, Adams stands 10th in NFL history. The only two players who achieved the milestone who aren’t in the Hall of Fame are former Arizona Cardinals pass catcher Larry Fitzgerald (121) and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers standout Mike Evans (105).

Fitzgerald enters the ballot for the first time this season. Presumably, Evans will follow suit five years after he retires. Speaking of Evans, like Adams, he surpassed 100 career receiving touchdowns. On “The Pivot” YouTube, Adams expressed tongue-in-cheek feelings about watching a player from his draft class beat him to that mark.
“Well, I ain’t going to lie, I was salty. He beat me to it. I was aware where we were, and I think I was like one above him, and then, uh, I missed him three games, and I was sitting here watching him every game, and this fool just started coming, just getting him. But Mike is, Mike is one of them dudes that I could just got so much respect for, man.”
Evans, at age 31, is solidifying himself as one of the most consistent wideouts in recent memory. While he’s never had a 100-catch season, his 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons are a record in themselves, tied with Jerry Rice. Regardless of quarterback, from Josh McCown to Tom Brady to Baker Mayfield, the six-time All-Pro continues to post outstanding numbers.

While the friendly rivalry exists between Adams and Evans, you can hear his reverence and respect for Evans. Now, with just two touchdowns separating them, the Rams receiver can attempt to catch Evans. The two renew acquaintances on November 23, when Tampa Bay travels to Los Angeles to face the Rams.
