With the 2025 season less than 100 days away, Ashton Jeanty sat down with the St. Brown Podcast crew to discuss all things football. The Las Vegas Raiders’ sixth overall selection in the 2025 draft is looking to make a name for himself after not being selected for the Heisman, and he’s got three teams on the schedule that he’s looking forward to the most.
The Teams Ashton Jeanty is Most Excited to Play
Coming from Boise State, Jeanty has quite a few connections that are currently in the league. After a 4-13 season, Geno Smith was brought in as a fresh start for the Raiders. With Jeanty currently listed as RB1, the team has a tough schedule ahead of them as they look for their first winning season since 2021.
Jeanty had to think about the teams he’s most excited to play: “We play the Cowboys primetime, the Chiefs, just ’cause of Nick Bolton, he went to my high school, and he’s been balling over there, so it’s going to be dope to play against him.
“Then, probably the Patriots. Kendrick Bourne, we have the same agent, so he’s been dope like supporting and giving me advice throughout the process,” he said.
Luckily for Jeanty, he doesn’t have to wait too long for that Patriots game. Las Vegas heads to New England on Sunday, September 7, as they open the season on the road against the man with whom he shares an agent. At 29 years old, Bourne is entering his fifth year with the Patriots. Last season, his numbers dropped, as he had just 28 receptions for 305 yards and a touchdown.
Seeing as the team only won four games last season, they have just three primetime games on the 2025 slate. The first is on Monday, September 15, as they have their first home game of the year against the Los Angeles Chargers. That game is notable as it’s the return of late-primetime games on the NFL schedule, beginning at 10 p.m. EST.
Jeanty and the team will have plenty of time to prepare for the primetime matchup against the Cowboys, as it’s a Monday night game that takes place after they’ll be on Thursday night football. With a game in Denver on November 6, the team won’t play again until November 17 when Dallas comes to town.
The final team Jeanty mentioned was the Chiefs, the Raiders’ fierce division rivals. Las Vegas will head to Kansas City on October 19. After seeing the team in Week 7, they don’t have to worry about Patrick Mahomes and Co. until the season finale in Week 18.
