Raiders’ New HC Klint Kubiak Sends Clear Message About Maxx Crosby’s Future Amid Trade Speculation

Raiders' new head coach Klint Kubiak speaks on keeping Maxx Crosby amid trade rumors. The star defender was first in the facility working out.

After winning Super Bowl 60 with the Seattle Seahawks, OC Klint Kubiak announced that he would be on his way to Las Vegas to coach the Raiders. This was an expected decision, but that should not detract from the benefits of this hire.

Kubiak is one of the best offensive minds in the league, and now leading a rebuild in Las Vegas, he will have some work to do before the winning begins. One of the most significant issues Kubiak will need to address is the future of star EDGE Maxx Crosby with the team.

Klint Kubiak Speaks on the Maxx Crosby Situation

Before going on to the current issues, let’s look at Crosby’s excellent history with the Raiders. After being selected in 2019 by the Raiders, Crosby looked like a star right away. According to the PFSN NFL EDGE Impact Metric, he was ranked 31st in his rookie season and 25th the next year in 2020.

This was a great start, but in 2021, he broke out. He finished ranked 2nd overall. From there, the domination did not stop. In 2022, he was ranked 1st, in 2023, 6th, in 2024, 1st, and this season, 2nd.

Throughout that success, the Raiders were not winning enough games. In Crosby’s career, he has played in the playoffs once. This is unacceptable for such a good player, and in recent years, it has been the reason Crosby has been looking at other options across the NFL.

This is where we are now, and with Kubiak being hired, he needs to figure out what they are going to do with Crosby. At the new head coach’s introductory press conference today, Kubiak spoke about already meeting with Crosby, per Raiders insider Ryan McFadden.

On X, McFadden wrote, “Kubiak on Maxx Crosby: ‘I got to a cup of coffee with Maxx this morning. Love talking with him. And look forward to continuing those conversations. He was the first one in here working out. So that fired me up.'”

This is a great start from Kubiak, and it seemed like he got to work right away. Also in the press conference, per NFL insider Adam Schefter, Kubiak spoke about his hopes with Crosby.

Schefter wrote on X, “More Klint Kubiak on Maxx Crosby: ‘We want him to be a part of our success going forward, there’s no doubt about that.'”

Any head coach that the Raiders were going to hire would want exactly what Kubiak hopes for with Crosby. The Raiders have a franchise EDGE rusher that can take over games himself, and for an offensive coach like Kubiak, this is one of the best things he can have.
