The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs treated fans to an instant classic in Game 4 in the NBA Finals, and Knicks fans’ disdain for Victor Wembanyama continues to grow despite the 3-1 New York lead. After the Game 4 loss, Wembanyama was headed back into the hotel from the bus when Knicks fans hurled eggs at him.
Former Cincinnati Bengals wideout and Pro Bowler T.J. Houshmandzadeh was unhappy with the actions of Knicks fans and called them out in a recent segment on the “Speakeasy” show.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh Takes Shot at Knicks Fans
Knicks fans have been going wild for the entire playoff run, and with their team just one win away from their first championship in 53 years, they are beginning to go overboard.
The Knicks are the biggest story in the city and have united everyone. The fans are in the streets, causing chaos, and even Wembanyama isn’t safe from their antics. Houshmandzadeh came to the Spurs superstar’s defense after fans threw eggs at him.
“If Wemby turns around and smacks the s**t out of one of them, then it’s a problem,” Houshmandzadeh said. “They’re gonna be ready to sue. Like, what are we doing? Because there’s a lot of dudes that if you hit them with an egg, they turning around, and they’re gonna put hands and feet on you.”
“Where’s the respect at?” he asked. “Like Knicks, y’all might win your first NBA championship in 53 years, like this makes me not even wanna root for the Knicks when you see stuff like this… At the end of the day, it’s a basketball game, it’s a game.”
Wembanyama’s greatness on the court doesn’t help his case with Knicks fans, but his extracurricular antics have created such hatred toward him. He picked up a flagrant for elbowing Karl-Anthony Towns and got away with pushing Jalen Brunson’s head toward the ground in Game 3. Putting hands on the Knicks stars isn’t helping his case with the opposite fanbase.
But that doesn’t excuse the actions of the Knicks fans. Houshmandzadeh warned them of the possibility of retaliation and what could have happened if the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year wasn’t as calm.

It didn’t help that the Spurs had just blown the biggest NBA Finals lead ever and fumbled their chance to even the series, but Wembanyama kept a cool head.
Wembanyama is becoming quite the villain in New York, and Knicks fans are treating him like one. Maybe he’ll take over the most hated person in New York from Trae Young by the end of the series.
However, there is a possibility that the 22-year-old might not need to return to New York and face the wrath of the fans on the street if the Knicks take care of business in Game 5 and win the championship.
Despite all that, Knicks fans should still be careful about the wild behavior on the streets. It is absolute chaos in New York, and it’s safe to say that Houshmandzadeh isn’t a fan of it, especially when it involves throwing eggs at their opponents.
