PFN Scouting Podcast: Recapping the Senior Bowl and Its 2024 NFL Draft Implications

Each year, the Reese’s Senior Bowl is one of the most important events of the 2024 NFL Draft cycle. The film always takes precedence in evaluation, but the Senior Bowl allows evaluators to look at prospects differently and see elements of their profile they couldn’t see before.

Most notably, the Senior Bowl pits talented prospects against one another on the same field, allowing for easy comparison. It also gives NFL personnel an inside look at other less transparent qualities, like work ethic, practice habits, and information-retaining skills.

There were almost too many notable players to count at the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl, but on the latest episode of The PFN Scouting Podcast, fellow NFL Draft analyst A.J. Schulte and I went over some of our top risers.

Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell and Oregon C Jackson Powers-Johnson — PFN’s Players of the Week at the Senior Bowl — led off our list of risers. But players like Darius Robinson, Tyler Guyton, Roman Wilson, Theo Johnson, Christian Haynes, and MarShawn Lloyd joined the list.

Beyond the pure risers, we dove deep into the Senior Bowl QB group, discussing storylines for each passer.

Did Bo Nix take advantage of the opportunity to rise into Round 1? Did Michael Penix Jr. validate his standing? And did Rattler close the gap between them and himself? We sought to answer these questions.
