Texas A&M star KC Concepcion is already a role model, and he hasn’t even made it to the NFL yet. The wide receiver turned heads at the Combine for standing up against online bullies, and people around the league and college landscape are praising him for his character.
NFL World Weighs In on KC Concepcion’s ‘Empowering’ Words
Concepcion grew up with a speech impediment; however, it didn’t hinder him from carving out one of the most impressive resumes in the 2026 NFL Draft class. Still, when he recently finished his Combine interviews, many people online made fun of his stutter.
He slammed the bullies in an Instagram story, which included:
“I just wanna say something if you have a speech impediment there is nothing wrong with us. I have had this stutter since I can remember talking this is apart of me this is who I am I cannot control this. I wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up who may be afraid and not confident in yourself.”
Prominent figures around the NFL reacted to the youngster’s words, praising him for his courage. Indianapolis Colts icon Reggie Wayne recalled his interaction with the prospect at the Combine.
“Absolutely enjoyed my meeting with this kid over the weekend,” he tweeted. “He had the most confidence of anybody in the building when we talked football.”
“This hit home,” Super Bowl winner Ben Watson wrote. “My son has a stutter. While I hope it goes away, I hope he never feels belittled or inferior because of it. I want him to know that his speech is not a limitation but a unique part of him. I don’t want my fear of others who may not be as patient when he talks to deter him from sharing all that God has given him to say and do. Thank you for being bold, KC. You are empowering people you may never meet.”
Active players also chimed in, recognizing the inspiration Concepcion is to others struggling with the same problem.
“KC Concepcion, got my respect!” C.J. Gardner-Johnson said. “My best friend in the league plays for the Eagles Andre Sam @SamMoney_1, great guy great teammate we both understand you.”
“Only a select few know how much pressure this is & i’m one of them!” Sam also responded. “Keep being you KC!”
Former player Doc Holliday posted a commemorative video honoring Concepcion for his stand against cyberbullies. His words included:
“Young royal, great job, man,” from where he mentioned what the prospect did.
“My guy!” two-time Super Bowl champ Lawrence Tynes exclaimed after previously tweeting, “He’s one of the best humans you will ever meet. Takes time for kids and all fans. He is vocal and intentional about helping others with speech impediments. The ‘people’ mocking him can f**k off and watch him shine in life.”
Concepcion is already winning in life, and people will undoubtedly root for him to win in the NFL, perhaps even cap his story with a Super Bowl ring.
The wideout ranks among the top five prospects at his position in the 2026 class, and it’ll be interesting to see where his story will continue come April.
