A mock draft’s purpose evolves as the NFL Draft cycle does. Later on in the cycle, in the months of February, March, and April, there is a stable draft order, and most of the information needed on prospects has already been gathered. In the earlier months, though, there is much more uncertainty to entertain.

In a way, early mocks can be taxing for this reason. But they can also be valuable exercises to exhaust all the possibilities that still exist on the NFL Draft circuit. Thus, on the latest episode of the PFN Scouting Podcast, Dalton Miller and I conducted a 2024 NFL Mock Draft for the top 10 and discussed potential outcomes.
In this mock draft exercise, we each made our own individual picks for each team in the top 10 and decided on a consensus pick before moving down the board.
You’ll see some of the usual names — Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and a few top non-QBs make appearances — but there’s also a fast-rising QB in the Pac-12 who cracks the top 5 in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, as well as two receiver prospects hot on Marvin Harrison Jr.‘s heels.
