Day three of the NFL combine is set to begin today, and franchises will have their eyes peeled on the next class of quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers that could dominate the game.
Team meetings and medical checks have already given decision-makers an idea of what kind of players they’ll be dealing with, but now it’s time for many to prove themselves on the field, including former Penn State quarterback Drew Allar. But what’s his plan today?
Details on Drew Allar’s NFL Combine Workout Schedule
Taking place between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m ET, quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers will begin on-field workouts, with the ability to let their athleticism, timing, and technical skills do the talking.
While Allar is planning to throw today, he won’t be participating in most of the athletic drills, including the 40-yard dash and shuttle run, due to a broken ankle he suffered in October 2025. His priorities this weekend will be demonstrating his arm talent and health, as best he can.
For Allar, the throwing drills mean more to him than they do most. After being projected as a top pick in the 2025 NFL draft, many expected the former five-star recruit to have a breakout season and be a Heisman trophy finalist.
From arm strength to body type to comfort level operating the pocket, it seemed like it was just a matter of time before he put it all together.
He started 2025 strong, leading the Nittany Lions as high as second in the country while throwing for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns with a completion percentage of 64.8%.
The early-season honeymoon would soon wear off, as three straight losses to Oregon, UCLA, and Northwestern would put the team in disarray – ultimately getting head coach James Franklin fired, while Allar recovered from his broken ankle suffered against the Wildcats.
What had started as an extremely hopeful year for Allar ended up being a disaster, plummeting his draft stock. He’d end his 2025 season with a grade of 78.7 according to PFSN’s CFB QB Impact Metrics, and is currently projected to go in the 5th round in our latest 7th round mock draft.
Today will be integral to moving his stock back up and recouping some of the hype he lost. He still has NFL potential – if he can get to the right situation and coaching staff, they could get the talent out of him.
While Allar still has his pro day to showcase his skills on March 18, time is ticking for him to ultimately prove himself to the NFL.
