The New England Patriots are back on the NFL’s biggest stage. And for Stefon Diggs, the moment meant everything.
After years of near misses, injuries, and criticism, Diggs finally reached the Super Bowl. He did it in a brutal Denver snowstorm, surrounded by tears, gratitude, and redemption.

The Patriots’ 10-7 AFC Championship Game win over the Denver Broncos was ugly. It was physical. It was cold. But it was historic.
For Diggs, it was deeply personal.
Just moments after the final whistle blew, Diggs stood on the field, fighting back tears as he reflected on a season many thought wouldn’t lead to this moment.
“I’m just so proud of this team,” Diggs said. “Battling the injury. Coming back. Being around the right group of guys. Great quarterback. Great OC. Great head coach. It made it all worth it.”

Diggs didn’t shy away from the criticism that followed him earlier in his career. He embraced it.
“They was calling me washed,” Diggs said. “Said I ain’t have it no more. I just wanted to prove it to myself. I am who I say I am. … This team took a chance on me. I just wanted to make them proud.”

That journey was significant. Diggs suffered a torn ACL in 2024 while with Houston, leaving his future in doubt. But New England took a chance on him, and he made sure to seize the opportunity. The AFC title game itself was far from a showcase for wide receivers. Heavy snow turned Empower Field into a survival test. Diggs finished with five catches for just 17 yards.
After the game, he also made sure to lift up his quarterback. Diggs praised Drake Maye, calling him a fighter and an MVP-caliber leader.
“That’s a soldier,” Diggs said. “That’s an MVP. I’m riding with Drake Maye. I’m going to give him everything I’ve got.”
Now, with clear skies expected in California, Diggs will step onto the Super Bowl stage for the first time. The labels are gone. The doubts are quieter. And the man they called washed is one win away from forever.
