Patrick Mahomes Talks Tom Brady, Taylor Swift Meeting Travis Kelce, Dad Bod, and New WRs on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’

Here are five intriguing offseason storylines from Patrick Mahomes' appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show."

The 2024 offseason has been an eventful one, especially for the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.

Whether it be Tom Brady, Taylor Swift, or his dad bod, Mahomes talked about it all on “The Pat McAfee Show” this week.

Patrick Mahomes Claims He Played Matchmaker For Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce and Swift’s relationship took the league by storm in 2023.

For many, they thought the relationship would be a distraction for the Chiefs. However, that didn’t happen, with the team winning the Super Bowl.

Now, months into the offseason, Mahomes is claiming to be responsible for it all.

“I like to take some of the credit because I was the one who invited Travis to his first Taylor concert,” said Mahomes. “He’s a great dude, and I’m glad it’s all worked out for the best.”

This references where it all began, which was last summer when Kelce went to a Swift concert.

“He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker,” said Mahomes. “I had some input in there as well. I was like, ‘Dude, just go for it.'”

Patrick Mahomes on Advice From Tom Brady

Recently, Brady went viral for his Netflix special, in which he was roasted by almost everyone he knows.

Now, Brady is sharing some advice with Mahomes.

“I will definitely be staying away from a roast throughout my lifetime,” said Mahomes. “They might be able to get Travis Kelce.”

“They actually asked me to go to it, and I was like, ‘Man, I can’t even believe this is happening,'” said Mahomes. “I will stay away from that throughout my lifetime and try to stay on the straight and narrow.”

Mahomes Talks Going Bombs Away and Improving Deep Ball

A lot of things went right for the Chiefs in 2023, but it wasn’t all perfect.

One of Mahomes’ biggest issues was his deep ball, which he’s looking to improve going forward.

“I feel like I missed some deep balls last year, and I’m continuing to work on that,” said Mahomes. “I’m trying to push the envelope in practice, and we gotta be ready to roll from the beginning.”

“With all the new guys that we have, you’ve got to get on the same page with them … Some of these guys I’ve worked with a little bit, but I want to continue to get that work in with them,” Mahomes added. “I think this year we’re built to throw the ball deep, and I have to be smart when we do that. I wanna be that explosive offense that we’ve seen in the past.”

Mahomes Talks WWE Appearance

Back in April, Mahomes appeared on WWE’s “Monday Night RAW” when Logan Paul, JD McDonagh, and Braun Strowman all got in on the action.

“The WWE thing was awesome, and I wish I could’ve got in the ring,” said Mahomes. “I’ve seen enough to know that Jey Uso is good at getting out of those situations.”

“I was definitely scared of the big dude,” Mahomes added. “Big dude was a lot bigger than I expected to see whenever he walked up. I was very, very thankful for Jey Uso of getting him out of there because I was not ready to go.”

Mahomes Talks Infamous Dad Bod

In his first appearance at OTAs, the Chiefs’ social media team posted a video of Mahomes walking in. As a result, fans began going after him for his “dad bod,” which he’s spoken about before.

“It kind of surprised me,” said Mahomes. “I thought we got the whole dad bod thing out of the way last season in the playoffs. I guess people still haven’t realized that I don’t have abs.”
