Patrick Mahomes’ Net Worth, Salary, and Career Earnings: How Much Money Has the Chiefs QB Made?

Patrick Mahomes is already one of the greatest players in NFL history. With all the success he has had, let's take a look at his net worth and career earnings.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has found immense success in the NFL since being drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The 28-year-old has set several league records thus far, including all-time marks for passing yards per game and passer rating. He’s a three-time Super Bowl winner, three-time Super Bowl MVP, and two-time NFL MVP.

With all that success, let’s take a look at Mahomes’ salary, net worth, and career earnings.

    What Is Patrick Mahomes’ Salary?

In 2020, Mahomes inked a 10-year, $450 million extension with the Chiefs. The length and structure of this deal were different from any contract in NFL history, as Mahomes’ contract contains rolling guarantees that make it nearly impossible for Kansas City to cut him in the future without taking on massive amounts of dead money.

In 2023, the Chiefs and Mahomes restructured the contract to move some money into the near term. The reworked deal essentially allowed Mahomes to collect $48 million annually from 2023-26, added two void years, and tweaked the two-time MVP’s incentive structure.

Based on average annual value, Mahomes makes $45 million per season. While that’s obviously a ton of money, it’s actually a bargain for the Chiefs relative to other star quarterbacks. Believe it or not, Mahomes is just the 10th-highest-paid QB in the NFL.

Mahomes is getting paid the same as Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins ($45 million), and he’s earning less than Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson ($46 million) and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray ($46.1 million).

And there’s a big gap between Mahomes and the QBs who just recently signed extensions like Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence ($55 million) and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff ($53 million).

The trade-off is that Mahomes has a ton of guaranteed money and long-term security. Also, Mahomes has talked about taking less money so the Chiefs can continue to surround him with a terrific supporting cast going forward.

“It’s just constant communication,” Mahomes said of his restructured deal. “Between me, my people, the front office, Clark Hunt, [and] Coach Reid to find the right spot where I can get paid, keep the quarterback market going and, at the same time, keep a lot of great dudes around me and keep cap space for other guys to get signed as well.

“That’ll be something I do throughout my entire career: To make money for myself and my family, but to keep a lot of great players around me as well.”

What Is Mahomes’ Net Worth and Career Earnings?

Mahomes’ net worth is estimated to be $90 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Entering the 2024 season, Mahomes has totaled $136,254,472 in career earnings from his NFL contracts, which ranks 15th among all active players.

Mahomes projects to finally crack the top 10 in career earnings in 2025 thanks to his 10-year, $450 million contract. In fact, he’s on pace to become the NFL’s highest career earner by 2030.

However, Mahomes is doing just fine in the meantime, as he also brings in a ton of money each year from his various endorsement deals.

Mahomes also has several successful investments. He’s a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals (MLB), Kansas City Current (NWSL), and the F1 team Alpine. He’s also invested in Whoop, Hyperice, and Whataburger, among other companies.

Long story short, Mahomes is absolutely crushing it — on and off the field.
