A Super Bowl loss is never easy to swallow. After making it through the grind of an entire season and reaching the final destination, falling just one game short of the ultimate goal is always heartbreaking. No matter how many championships a team may have already won, losing the last game of the season will always leave a bitter taste.
For the Kansas City Chiefs — and especially for quarterback Patrick Mahomes — this loss stings more than any other. The team was on the verge of achieving an unprecedented three-peat in the NFL, and Mahomes would have had only Tom Brady left to chase in the GOAT conversation.
But just like every team eventually has to move on from a loss, the same applies to the Chiefs right now. Amid roster changes and a busy offseason, Mahomes shared a video of himself back on the field, returning to training — along with a message to the fans.

Patrick Mahomes Is Ready To Bounce Back in 2025
The Philadelphia Eagles shocked the world by steamrolling the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, earning a dominant 40–22 victory in a game completely controlled from start to finish.
The result poured cold water on Kansas City’s seemingly unstoppable dynasty. Up until that point, their only true misstep had come in 2021 against the Buccaneers — a loss that could be largely attributed to key injuries along the offensive line.
One player who undoubtedly took the loss hard was Mahomes — the biggest star in Kansas City’s history — who may have had the worst game of his NFL career on the sport’s biggest stage.
After another underwhelming regular season, the quarterback threw two costly interceptions in the first half alone, including a pick-six, putting the Chiefs in a deep hole heading into halftime.
But in order to have a successful 2025, that heartbreak has to be left in the past — and Mahomes knows it.
The quarterback posted a video on Instagram of himself training, with a simple caption: “Back at it.”

The last time Mahomes lost a Super Bowl, he followed it up with two outstanding seasons — most notably in 2022, when he threw for 5,250 yards, 41 touchdowns, and just 12 interceptions.
That performance earned him the league’s MVP award and led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory over the Eagles. But since winning that MVP award, we’ve seen a different version of Mahomes in the NFL — one that spreads the ball around more and attacks the deep field less frequently. As a result, his numbers have dipped compared to his earlier seasons, reflecting a shift in play style rather than a drop in effectiveness.
After a loss that may have dealt a serious blow to his legacy in the race to become the greatest of all time, we can expect a version of Mahomes in 2025 that looks a lot more like the MVP years. If there’s one thing we know about him, it’s that his mindset is always locked in on winning it all — and he won’t let this loss slide easily.
