    Who Are the Panthers’ Oldest Active Players? Top 10 Includes Andy Dalton and Adam Thielen

    The Carolina Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league, but there are still some veterans on the team to provide leadership. The team showed some fight in head coach Dave Canales’ first season, although the defense ranked last in all major categories.

    Here are the top 10 oldest active players on the Panthers roster.

    Top 10 Oldest Active Players on the Carolina Panthers

    1) JJ Jansen, long snapper | age 39

    In addition to being the oldest player on the team, long snapper JJ Jansen is also the longest tenured. Jansen joined the team in 2009 and has played under eight head coaches, including interim coaches.

    2) Andy Dalton, quarterback | age 37

    Backup quarterback Andy Dalton entered the league in 2011 and is on his fifth team. Dalton was supposed to take over as the starting quarterback midway through last season, but a car accident involving Dalton and his family led to Bryce Young reclaiming the starting job.

    3) Sam Martin, punter | age 35

    Sam Martin is entering his 13th NFL season and first for the Carolina Panthers. He was with the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills before joining the Panthers.

    4) Adam Thielen, wide receiver | age 34

    Adam Thielen may be nearing the end of his career after twelve seasons in the league, but he is still a valuable part of this Carolina Panthers receiving corps. Thielen had 48 receptions for 615 yards last season.

    5) Jordan Matthews, tight end | age 32

    Tight end Jordan Matthews has been with the Panthers since 2023. Matthews bounced between their practice squad and active roster, but has yet to record a reception for the Panthers.

    6) Jadeveon Clowney, linebacker | age 32

    The 1st overall draft pick in the 2014 draft, Clowney is now entering his second year with the Panthers. He had 5.5 sacks for the team last season.

    7) Taylor Moton, offensive tackle | age 30

    Taylor Moton has been a long-time Panther, having been selected in the 2017 NFL draft. He has been the one constant in the offensive line, anchoring the right tackle position for the Panthers.

    8) Josey Jewell, linebacker | age 30

    Middle linebacker Josey Jewell joined the Panthers as a free agent in 2024. He had 3.5 sacks and 97 tackles last season.

    9) David Moore, wide receiver | age 30

    David Moore returned for a second stint with the Carolina Panthers last season. The journeyman had his best season since 2020 with 32 catches for 351 yards.

    10) A’Shawn Robinson, defensive end | age 30

    A’Shawn Robinson signed a three-year contract with the Panthers last offseason. He was tied with Clowney for most sacks last season with 5.5 sacks.
