Rifts between former NFL players can often arise during their post-playing days. Sometimes, those rifts even start because of the experience that said players had working with each other on a network.
Robert Griffin III vs. Ryan Clark
While Robert Griffin III had a specific take about the WNBA rivalry brewing between Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky player Angel Reese, Ryan Clark responded by going right at Griffin.
Here is what he had to say in a recent video that he posted to X:
“(Griffin’s) not having conversations at his home about what black women have to endure in this country…(Griffin hasn’t) been able to do that because, in both marriages, you’ve been married to white women.”
Those words from Griffin’s former teammate seemed to have crossed the line. Here is what former NFL MVP Cam Newton had to say about this feud between the two former teammates:
“You don’t really know if they’re having that conversation…You can only empathize…RG3 has a beautiful family,” Newton said via 4th & 1.
The Feud Between Robert Griffin III & Ryan Clark is Unfortunate
It is really tough to watch these two former teammates fight, especially when Clark takes it one step too far. Both were teammates in 2014 with the Washington Redskins, but the experience obviously didn’t go well for either player.
Griffin played just seven games that year and had just five total touchdowns. Clark, in his final NFL season, recorded over 100 total tackles and two interceptions but was a part of a poor defense. The franchise won just four games that season and missed the playoffs.
The two became teammates at ESPN later on. For years, they had roles on shows such as NFL Live, Get Up, and Monday NFL Countdown.
Griffin was recently let go by ESPN in a round of cuts by the network but has a show called Outta Pocket with RG3.
Now, their relationship is completely tarnished because of something that doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with them. This has happened with certain members of the media, especially those who work or have worked for ESPN. When someone says something that somebody else disagrees with, things can get a little bit heated.
Viewers are seeing that firsthand with Griffin and Clark. Time will tell if the relationship can help mend itself in the near future or not. It remains to be seen if this public beef will be resolved sooner or later.
