Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has grown into a solid young starter after just 42 career games. Drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Love spent three seasons as the backup behind Aaron Rodgers before finally taking over as the starter in 2023.
At the time, there was a lot of talk about how Rodgers wouldn’t mentor Love and how the team was preparing for life after their future Hall of Famer. But over time, it turns out Love and Rodgers built a stronger bond than the future Hall of Famer ever had with his own predecessor, Brett Favre.
Love has proven he can make plays with both his arm and legs, helping lead the Packers to the playoffs in 2024. Now, he’s opened up a bit more about his relationship with Rodgers.
Jordan Love Discusses Relationship With Aaron Rodgers
During an appearance on the “Thanalysis Show” hosted by Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Love said he and Rodgers are on good terms.
“We have a great relationship. Obviously, I was in the quarterback room with him. And when you’re in that room together, you know, you’re there every day for multiple hours a day. So you know, you build a relationship with everybody in that room. … Me and Aaron definitely got a good relationship.”
Love played well in 2024, completing 268 of 425 passes (63.1%) for 3,389 yards, with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Rodgers, meanwhile, is currently a free agent. He’s been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but as of now, hasn’t signed anywhere.

While their relationship is solid today, Rodgers didn’t exactly welcome the Love pick back in 2020. As he revealed in his Netflix documentary, “Aaron Rodgers: Enigma,” the moment caught him completely off guard:
“I looked down at my phone and my agent just texted me: ‘Quarterback.’ And I was like, ‘No f****** way.’ Then the pick happens, and I immediately got off the couch and was super non-reactive. And I just went to pour myself some tequila and went back to the couch and knew there was going to be some interesting conversations.”
Despite that rough start, Green Bay has once again managed to develop another quality quarterback. And this time, the passing of the torch seems to have come with a bit more respect.
