Packers HC Matt LaFleur Reacts To Josh Jacobs’ Arrest

As with any legal situation, the details surrounding Jacobs’ arrests are sparse.

The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin said on Tuesday that the investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time.

While vehemently denying the allegations through his representatives, Jacobs asked for “fairness and restraint” as the judicial process plays out.

The Packers began their offseason training activities on Tuesday, and LaFleur, along with some players, were supposed to talk with the media on Wednesday.

Green Bay’s players did not talk with the media, but LaFleur did and he addressed the Jacobs situation as expected.

“I’m gonna stick with the statement that we put out as an organization and just let the process play out,” LaFleur said.

The Packers coach added that he will not comment any further.

The news of Jacobs’ arrest came as a shock to many around the NFL, as the seven-year veteran running back out of Alabama was known for his charity work and community involvement throughout his time with the Packers and Las Vegas Raiders, focusing on empowering youth and raising awareness for mental health.

The Packers released a statement on Tuesday after the news broke: “We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”

The NFL also noted it is aware of the situation and has been in contact with Green Bay.

After turning himself in to the police, Jacobs is being held without bond until his court date, which has not been set yet, according to online records.

In 2026, Jacobs will be in the third year of his four-year contract with the Packers and he’s due $10.2 million in base salary with a $14.5 million cap hit.

If Jacobs does not play in 2026, the Packers’ running back room would consist of Chris Brooks, MarShawn Lloyd, and Pierre Strong Jr. It would not be surprising if Green Bay looked to add another guy to the mix.

Jacobs ran for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns last season with 36 receptions for 282 receiving yards and a touchdown through the air.
