After a solid season with the Green Bay Packers in 2024, Brandon McManus and the franchise agreed to a three-year deal in the 2025 offseason to keep McManus in Green Bay. However, a quad injury halted his season four weeks in, forcing the Packers to find a replacement.
Green Bay called Lucas Havrisik, who had kicked for the Los Angeles Rams over nine games in 2023 and was preparing to be a substitute teacher before the Packers reached out. Havrisik did the unthinkable two weeks after signing, setting the Packers franchise record for the longest field goal in Week 7.
Kicker Lucas Havrisik’s 61-yard Field Goal Sets Packers Franchise Record
The Packers were outplayed by the Arizona Cardinals for most of the first half in Week 7 despite Arizona relying on backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Sitting in a 13-3 hole, Green Bay had a slight chance to cash in on some points with seven seconds before heading into the locker room at halftime.
The kickoff from Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland went through the end zone, giving the Packers the ball at the 35-yard line, and quarterback Jordan Love hit wide receiver Romeo Doubs on a 22-yard pass to move Green Bay to Arizona’s 43-yard line with one second left. Although a long shot, head coach Matt LeFleur trotted out Havrisik for a 61-yard field goal, which he nailed, setting the Packers franchise record.

Havrisik has been flawless through two weeks so far, hitting two field goals against the Bengals in Week 6 and making both of his extra point attempts. As for the Week 7 matchup against the Cardinals, he was the only one who scored points in the first half, converting a 61-yarder and a 31-yard field goal earlier in the second quarter. He also converted his extra point after a Josh Jacobs rushing touchdown in the third quarter.
It will be interesting to see what happens when McManus is ready to come back. Harvisik has been perfect, but the money owed to McManus cannot be ignored. If the Packers are forced to let Harvisik go, as long as he continues to make his kicks, he should be able to find a job elsewhere. Let’s not jump to conclusions, as McManus is still out.
Harvisik has helped keep the Packers in the game against the Cardinals. Will they need his leg later on in the matchup for a game-winner?
