Mikaela Shiffrin recently came out in support of New Zealand’s alpine skier, Alice Robinson. The World Championships silver medalist had crashed out of the World Cup held in Slovenia.
Robinson had won the giant slalom events twice in November and December last year. However, she couldn’t maintain the victorious run in the giant slalom event held in Slovenia, while Camille Rast won the gold medal.
Mikaela Shiffrin Backs Alice Robinson After Setback
Mikaela Shiffrin supported Robinson after she vented out her frustration following the setback. The 24-year-old alpine skier from New Zealand wrote in the caption of her Instagram post,
“Frustration and disappointment today. Didn’t have the right feelings from the get go. This is how our sport rolls and I’ll use this fire for the next races going forward. Thank you for the support we charge on.”
Shiffrin showed support through both of her Instagram accounts in the comment section. She added red heart emojis through her official Instagram account, as well as the WTP account:

Shiffrin’s Performance In the Current Season
Shiffrin had a roller-coaster in the 2025 season. While she won six World Cup races in a row, the alpine skier lost out on a chance to win a seventh consecutive individual World Championship medal.
Having returned from a crash that left a punctured wound in her abdomen, Shiffrin finished fifth in the individual slalom event at the 2025 World Championships. However, the American skier more than made up for it with a gold medal in the women’s team combined medal.

With six consecutive wins in 2025, including a victory in the World Cup event from the 2024-25 season, Shiffrin solidified her berth for the Winter Olympics alongside veteran skier Lindsey Vonn, who has qualified for her fifth Winter Olympics at the age of 41. Shiffrin has two gold medals and a silver medal to her credit at the Winter Olympics.
However, the 30-year-old skier wants to erase the unpleasant memories of the Beijing Winter Olympics, where she failed to win a single medal.
In top form, the American champion would like nothing better than to register a strong comeback in the upcoming Winter Olympics, scheduled to be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in early February.
