With the season already gaining momentum, Shiffrin’s focus is not only on a strong 2025-26 World Cup campaign but also on the Milano Cortina Olympics, now just a few months away.

Mikaela Shiffrin Reveals Why Winter Olympics Being at Milano Cortina Gives Her Confidence

Shiffrin, who headed into the Beijing Olympics 2022 as a strong contender, experienced a campaign that fell far short of what her reputation would suggest. Despite competing in multiple events, she was unable to win a medal and did not finish her run in a couple of races.

However, this time, Shiffrin believes that having the Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo gives her far more confidence, with the familiarity of the venue helping shape her mindset. She also contrasted the upcoming experience with her previous Olympic outing, noting how the Beijing Games were held under strict COVID-19 restrictions and in unfamiliar conditions.

In an October interview with Powder.com, she stated, “I really welcome going to Cortina. Overall, it is one of my favorite places and I’m so excited. To be in a familiar place, given my Olympic history, is really key. Especially after the last Games in one of the most unfamiliar places and most uncomfortable time periods with COVID, and the isolation that we all felt.”

Despite not winning medals in Beijing, Shiffrin’s Olympic tally still boasts two golds – giant slalom in 2018 and slalom in 2014, and a silver in the combined event in 2018.
