‘I Feel Lost, Disoriented’ — U.S. Skater Jason Brown Shares Emotional Message After 2026 Winter Olympic Dream Falls Short

U.S. figure skater Jason Brown shared his disappointment after failing to make the Team USA roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Jason Brown shared that he was left “heartbroken” after narrowly missing the U.S. Olympic Team roster for the Winter Olympics. The 31-year-old finished eighth in the men’s singles senior event at the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Jason Brown Shares Heartbreak After Failing to Make Winter Olympics Roster

Brown was hoping to make his third appearance at the Winter Olympics and showed promise with a third-place finish in the short program. But a disappointing run in the free skate with two falls meant that he fell short of qualifying in the end.

As the dust settles on the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Brown reflected on the event and his subsequent failure to make the Team USA roster for next month’s Winter Olympics. The eight-time U.S. Championships medalist wrote that he felt lost and disoriented, wishing he could press the rewind button and redo his routine.

But Brown also shared his determination to pick himself back up, move forward, and decide his next steps. “Our lives are built from moments. Moments that lift us, break us, confuse us, and sometimes feel like magic when everything aligns,” he wrote on Instagram. “To say I’m heartbroken right now is an understatement. I feel lost, disoriented, replaying every decision, searching for answers that don’t exist. The pain feels unreal, like I’m watching my own life from the outside.”

“What is within my control is what I choose to do next, how I rise, how I move forward, and who I become because of all the moments that have lead me to right here, right now. So that is what I’m going to do. Pick myself up and take the next steps.”

Brown is a one-time Winter Olympics medalist, having won bronze in the team event at the 2014 Games in Sochi. Despite failing to make the Team USA roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics, Jason Brown has been named as an alternate alongside Tomoki Hiwatashi and Jacob Sanchez, as announced by U.S. Figure Skating.
