Trinity Rodman Expresses Her Thoughts After Rejoining The Washington Spirit

Trinity Rodman reacts on joining Washington Spirit and becoming the highest paid women's soccer player in the world.

Trinity Rodman is all set to rejoin the Washington Spirit. The soccer legend has re-signed with the club on a three-year deal that runs through the 2028 season. The 23-year-old has signed a record $2 million NWSL deal, including bonuses.

With this contract, Rodman becomes the highest-paid female soccer player.

Trinity Rodman Reacts After Landmark Deal With Washington Spirit

In a recent interview with SportsCenter, Rodman opened up about the deal and what it meant for her. She said,

“First off, it’s amazing, but it’s also relieving to finally have pen to paper signed, confirmed. I’m staying with Spirit, so it is a relief. But, I’m again, just very thrilled, very blessed, very excited.”

The American bigwig added about the importance of this deal in the interview, as she further mentioned,

“Yeah, obviously, it’s been a roller coaster of emotions through it, because there’s one side of wanting to be paid well, wanting to stay in the US and represent my country. But also, there’s the other aspect, the other piece of what we want to get a lot more players paid this and, to just continue to raise the bar for that, because again, celebrating me.”

Rodman joined the Washington Spirit in 2021, having previously represented the Washington State Cougars in college soccer.

Trinity Rodman has represented Team USA since 2017, when the forward was just 15 years old. She even represented the USA at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. However, the  USA couldn’t proceed beyond the league stage.

A U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year in 2021, Rodman made her senior debut in 2022 and helped the USA win the CONCACAF Championship in Mexico. She also made her World Cup debut in the 2023 FIFA World Cup, although the USA couldn’t proceed beyond the Round of 16, losing to Sweden.

In 2024, Lady Luck finally smiled upon the young forward. She was a part of the women’s football team that represented the USA in the Paris Olympics. Rodman scored the golden goal against Japan in the quarterfinals, helping the USA qualify for the semifinals.

Team USA went on to win back the Olympic gold medal after more than 12 years, defeating  Brazil 1-0, with Mallory Swanson scoring the lone goal to clinch a fifth Olympic Gold for USWNT. They had previously won a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, held a year later due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
