Texas A&M Volleyball sophomore Kyndal Stowers recently expressed her thoughts on the maiden NCAA Championship victory for the Aggies. After trailing 1-6 in the first set, the Aggies bounced back and won the game 3-0 to clinch their first NCAA Championship.
Stowers played a crucial role in this victory, as she led both the offense and the defense for the game. After the game, she opened up about the impact of this sensational victory and how it will inspire generations.
Texas A&M Volleyball’s Kyndal Stowers Gets Real On The Massive Comeback
Stowers spoke to the NCAA’s Michaella Chester on the astounding comeback from the Aggies despite initially trailing. The sophomore outside hitter revealed in her post-match interview,
“I mean, why not us? We say that it’s written on our backs, on our warm-ups that we had walking into this place, and we truly believe it, and it’s written on our hearts and every single ounce of energy that we had coming into this game.”
Stowers further recalled how the team bounced back from the first setback as she added,
“We knew we were going to leave it all out on the courts, including, the first set being down by that much as we were, we were not going to leave that set with a single ounce of energy left in our body.”
Stowers generated a total of 10 kills and six digs during the Aggies’ impressive victory against the Wildcats in the final round of the NCAA Championships.
The Maroon and White, led by head coach Jamie Morrison, had performed up to expectations as they vanquished the Campbell Fighting Camels and the TCU Horned Frogs without much difficulty. The first major resistance came in the Round of 16, when the Aggies faced the Louisville Cardinals, who had finished as the runners-up in the 2024 edition.
Despite losing the first two sets, coach Morrison’s girls bounced back in time to win the game. The victorious Aggies then faced the behemoth, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, in the quarterfinals. Led by former player Dani Busboom Kelly, who had incidentally led the Louisville Cardinals to the 2024 finals, the Huskers held a clean slate until then.
However, Texas A&M had other plans, as the Huskers were stunned in a similar fashion, with the Aggies clinching the match 2-3.
Morrison’s team then bulldozed the challenge from the Pittsburgh Panthers to qualify for a historic finale, where, after some initial challenge from the Wildcats, they won the Championships in straight sets.
