The Nebraska Volleyball team may have been eliminated from the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships, but the impact of the Huskers’ exit remains. Head coach of the Texas A&M Aggies, Jamie Morrison, addressed the effect on the tournament atmosphere. The Aggies’ coach gave his take on Nebraska’s exit from the tournament, especially regarding the attendance numbers.
Texas A&M Volleyball Breaks Silence on Nebraska Volleyball Loss
Ahead of the match against Kentucky, the Aggies’ head coach sat down for a pre-match press conference alongside Maddie Waak, Ava Underwood, Emily Hellmuth, etc. During the conference, Morrison was asked if Nebraska’s elimination in the quarterfinals had led to slashed ticket prices, as alleged.
Morrison clarified that, contrary to the speculation, the attendance for the semifinals was as expected, and he was surprised to see Nebraska fans cheering for his team as well.
“It’s been great. And I think let me go on twofold, I think one of the things that I really respect about Nebraska fans is a lot of them have showed up.”
Morrison elaborated on this point further as he explained,
“I know there was some stuff on social media and disappointment in that, but I mean this like if we can do what I believe we can do at Texas A&M, I believe the 12th man can become that, too, where it’s passionate about volleyball and might show up to the final four regardless of if we’re in it or not.”
The Aggies will be aiming to clinch their debut NCAA title as they face the Kentucky Wildcats in the final round tonight at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
For the first time since the 2022 edition, the Huskers failed to make it to the final four of the NCAA Championships. Despite their best efforts, head coach Dani Busboom Kelly’s pupils went down 2-3 to Coach Morrison’s Aggies.
However, before this unexpected loss, the Huskers were one of the frontrunners for the coveted NCAA title. They had last won the NCAA Championships in 2017, and since then, they had entered the finals thrice: in 2018, 2021, and 2023, respectively.
The loss came as a shock to many, considering the form the Huskers were in leading up to the quarterfinals against the Aggies, as many felt this was their chance to clinch the NCAA Championships.
