Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Reveals Why She Rejects Brand Deals That Conflict With Her Faith

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone explains why she turns down brand deals that clash with her faith and values, prioritizing purpose over profit.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has built a career defined by dominance, discipline, and historic achievement. Widely regarded as one of the greatest track athletes of her generation, the American hurdler has repeatedly pushed the boundaries in women’s athletics.

Over the years, she has been outspoken about her faith and its significance to her. She recently opened up about how her faith affects the decisions she makes, including brand deals and collaborations.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Opens Up About How Her Faith Affects Her Decisions

While McLaughlin-Levrone’s performances on the track continue to draw headlines, the 25-year-old has also been candid about the values that guide her life away from competition. In a recent conversation, the Olympic champion opened up about her Christian faith and how it plays a central role in the decisions she makes, including those involving lucrative brand partnerships.

“It’s been interesting,” McLaughlin-Levrone said. “At the end of the day, I’m very firm on what I believe. Obviously, I try to carry that with grace and not be belligerent about it, but at the same time I do stand firm on what I believe is true.”

Her comments reflect a balance she says she strives to maintain: remaining respectful and gracious, while refusing to compromise on her convictions. That firmness, she explained, has at times meant walking away from opportunities that many athletes would find hard to turn down. As one of the most marketable stars in track and field, McLaughlin-Levrone regularly attracts interest from major brands. However, not every potential partnership aligns with her personal beliefs.

“There’s times partners maybe don’t want to align with that, and that’s okay,” she said. “I’ve learned to be content with those who support me, and I’m grateful for them.”

In an era where endorsement deals can define an athlete’s financial legacy, McLaughlin-Levrone’s stance is notable. She acknowledged that her perspective has evolved over time. Reflecting on her younger self, she admitted, “If you would have asked me 10 years ago, I would have probably taken every opportunity out there.”

Rather than seeing rejected deals as losses, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone frames them as necessary choices that allow her to remain authentic. “I’m going to continue to walk this path and just stay true to what I believe,” she said, adding that there have been moments where her team had to “say no and walk away.” For her, peace of mind and spiritual integrity take precedence over financial gain because she believes whatever is meant for her will not pass her by.
