Shaun White is back for another Winter Olympics, but with a minor twist. This time, the veteran snowboarder is here in the capacity of a commentator, as he witnessed the opening ceremony live for the sixth time.
White was initially interested in skiing. However, inspired by his brother Jesse White, Shaun White switched to skateboarding and snowboarding by the age of six. White was only 20 years old when he made his Olympic debut at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics.

Shaun White represented Team USA as a snowboarder at five Winter Olympics, from the Torino edition in 2006 to the Beijing edition in 2022. He won three gold medals out of five attempts overall. In between, White also represented the USA in skateboarding, winning medals in both the X Games and the Winter X Games.
White won his first snowboarding Olympic gold medal on his debut appearance at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. White won his second consecutive gold medal in the men’s halfpipe snowboarding event at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
However, after the Vancouver edition, White struggled to regain his form. Despite his best efforts, the veteran snowboarder finished in fourth place at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
White didn’t give up despite the setback and continued to improve his position for the 2018 Winter Olympics. However, just months before the 2018 Winter Olympics, White crashed into a superpipe and had to undergo 62 stitches for the injuries to his face.
Despite severe pain, White not only qualified for the team but also won the 2018 Winter Olympics gold medal.
White competed for the last time at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The then 36-year-old snowboarder finished fourth overall, bidding farewell to the sport after the Beijing edition.
