Novak Djokovic Extends His Support to Lindsey Vonn As She Fights Several Battles To Compete in the Winter Olympics

Tennis star Novak Djokovic wishes former Olympic champion skier Lindsey Vonn the best of luck for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Lindsey Vonn is preparing to represent the United States once again at the Winter Olympics. The 41-year-old veteran skier will aim for Olympic glory in her fifth and possibly final attempt.

Vonn has received support from celebrities worldwide in her recent initiative, even as she battles an ACL injury. Tennis star Novak Djokovic has joined in, wishing the former Olympic champion good luck.

For context, Vonn suffered a crash before the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics during an FIS World Cup event. The 41-year-old skier sustained a ruptured ACL ahead of the quadrennial competition. Despite the injury, she has chosen to compete against the odds.

Vonn also responded to a physician who questioned whether her participation was possible. On her X account, she wrote:

“My ACL was fully functioning until last Friday. Just because it seems impossible to you doesn’t mean it’s not possible. And yes, my ACL is 100% ruptured. Not 80% or 50%. It’s 100% gone.”

Vonn initially retired in 2019 due to recurring knee injuries. After undergoing knee implant surgery, she announced her comeback in late 2024 and earned her first podium finish at a World Cup meet in Sun Valley, Idaho.

She has since collected multiple podium finishes leading up to the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. In December 2025, she became the oldest female skier to win an FIS World Cup meet, triumphing in St. Moritz, Switzerland. She currently leads the women’s downhill category in the FIS World Cup standings.

Although the path to Olympic gold is challenging, Vonn is determined to reclaim her place among the sport’s greats. Even a podium finish would be historic for the veteran skier. The women’s downhill event is scheduled for Feb. 8, a day after the men’s downhill competition.
