Nick Goepper recently shared another health update as he continues to recover from injuries sustained at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. The freestyle skier crashed midway through the men’s halfpipe finals and was subsequently admitted to the hospital.
Goepper joined a list of athletes, including Lindsey Vonn and Kamila Sellier, who were forced to withdraw from their Olympic events due to crashes. Vonn is currently recovering in the United States, while Sellier underwent facial surgery following her accident.
Nick Goepper Shares Another Health Update Post-Crash
Goepper posted a reel detailing his latest health update after a 22-foot halfpipe crash that left him dazed. He expressed gratitude for the support he received, stating:
“Hey guys, I want to thank your for all the kind messages. It really means a lot. And I want to give you an update on my condition at the Olympics. So after my spectacular crash last night in the halfpipe finals, I ended up just spraining my mcl, and a little bit of bone bruise on one of my knees. So I got super lucky. God is watching over, that’s for sure.”

Despite the crash, Goepper finished fourth, narrowly missing the podium. His teammate Alex Ferreira won gold with a score of 93.75. Goepper had previously shared an update from the hospital on his Instagram story, writing:
“I am OK. Massive shin bang and a tweaked knee, but otherwise all good. It’s been a long night in the hospital getting things checked out. Thanks for all the love. Will check back in soon.”

Although not raised in a mountain environment, the Indiana native has established himself in freestyle skiing with multiple victories at major events, including the Olympics. The 31-year-old has earned three Olympic medals, all in slopestyle.

Goepper won his first Olympic medal with a bronze at the 2014 Sochi Games, followed by a silver at the 2018 PyeongChang Games and another silver at the 2022 Beijing Games. The Milano Cortina edition marked his Olympic debut in the halfpipe event. He had previously demonstrated his ability in the discipline with a silver medal at the 2025 World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland.
