Nebraska Volleyball player Andi Jackson has been a crucial part of the Huskers’ setup in the middle blocker position for the last couple of years. With crucial offensive performances, Jackson has complemented her teammates quite well in this season, too, and has racked up 156 kills so far.
Moreover, Jackson’s defensive work throughout the season has also been elite. For her defensive performances, the Brighton native also received the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 20.
What Did Nebraska Volleyball’s Jackson Say Regarding Her Exploits as a Middle Blocker?
Amid the ongoing 2025 season, the Nebraska middle blocker shed light on the mantra for being a formidable middle blocker while sharing advice for the younger generation.
In a media session with the NCAA Women’s Volleyball, Jackson reflected on the skills young players need to develop to be a good middle blocker. She said, “focusing on everything, like all skills in volleyball, instead of just blocking and hitting.”
Jackson further recalled an incident that helped her learn this mantra. She added, “One thing that stuck with me was my first year for USA, Jamie Morrison was our coach, and now he is at A&M, but I remember I didn’t go for a ball, I didn’t dive for it, and he was like, ‘are you a middle or a volleyball player?’ and that has just always stuck with me.”
In the conversation, Jackson also emphasized that a player’s overall skill development is crucial for success in a setup like that of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Jackson’s stint with the national team came as a part of the U21 side following her first year for the Nebraska Huskers. She won the NORCECA U21 Continental Championships during this period, representing the U.S. U21 team.
Jackson Sheds Light on the Environment Around the Nebraska Huskers Volleyball Team
Jackson highlighted the fun activities that Huskers players participate in, which ultimately reflect the close bond they share. Besides volleyball, these players also spent a considerable amount of time together on outings and off-court endeavors.
In a recent press conference, Jackson said via Hail Varsity and Hurrdat Sports, “I feel like you’re able to tell on the media. I mean, we do really fun things during timeouts and dance on the bench, and we have really fun cheers, and not that we haven’t done that in the past, but like Laney (Choboy) said, I just feel like there’s so much personality on the team, and you can really see that.”
The Huskers will face Wisconsin in their next matchup, scheduled to take place at the UW Field House on Oct. 31. In their latest match against Michigan State, the Huskers won the contest by a 3-0 margin.
