Ex-Steelers’ Coach Mike Tomlin’s Proud Dad Moment Goes Viral As Daughter Harley Shines in Georgia’s Gymnastics’ Breakthrough LSU Win

Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers' ex-coach, embraces gymnastics spirits as he cheers on daughter Harley in recent Georgia GymDogs meet.

Mike Tomlin was seen embracing gymnastics spirits, watching his daughter, Harley, and the Georgia Bulldogs compete in their home season opener against LSU. The GymDogs defeated the Tigers 197.200 – 196.850, gaining their footing for a strong season ahead.

Tomlin served as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers for 19 seasons, becoming the longest-tenured head coach in the four major North American sports leagues at the time of his retirement.

Tomlin graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in sociology and received a second-team All-Yankee Conference honor in 1994. He began as a wide receiver coach at Virginia Military Institute, and then had brief stints at the University of Tennessee, Arkansas State University, and the University of Cincinnati.

The 53-year-old coached the Steelers since 2007, leading them to 13 playoffs, three AFC Championship Games, and a Super Bowl XLIII, among others. He stepped down from the Steelers’ head coaching position on January 13, 2026, shortly after the team’s wildcard playoff loss.

Days after his retirement, Tomlin made his first public event appearance. Still, this time, he stepped into the role of a supporter, cheering on his daughter, Harley, as the Georgia GymDogs went up against the LSU Tigers in the season opener. The SEC Network television cameras caught the legendary coach embracing the spirit of gymnastics.

Harley contributed balance beam scores to her team’s win, posting 9.825.

Tomlin still has two years remaining on his contract, and he did not announce his decision to depart to anyone other than team president Art Rooney. He retired with an overall record of 193-114-2- and suffered a seven-game postseason losing streak towards the end of his career, despite early success.

Tomlin’s daughter, Harley, paved her own path in sports, followed her parents’ athletic suit, but made a name for herself in gymnastics. Both her brothers also played football, Dino at Boston College and Mason at Columbia University, and her mother competed with the William and Mary gymnastics team.

The gymnast was a standout recruit from Pittsburgh, becoming an all-around champion in 2022 and 2023, and qualified for the USA Gymnastics Developmental Program Nationals three times.

She joined Georgia as a freshman in the 2024-25 season, contributed in the balance beam four times, averaged a 9.800, and was named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll that year. In her team’s first meet of 2026 away, the GymDogs competed against Ohio State, where Tomlin earned a fourth-place finish on the beam and a tenth-place finish on the floor exercise.
