Michelle Gisin suffered a devastating crash while training in St. Moritz, resulting in multiple injuries requiring surgery. She recently gave an injury update on Instagram, and Mikaela Shiffrin had a wholesome reaction to it.
Following Gisin’s injury, she was airlifted and transported to a hospital in Zurich, where she underwent a series of surgeries. She is said to have suffered injuries to her left knee, right wrist, and cervical spine.
Mikaela Shiffrin Reacted to Michelle Gisin’s Injury Update
Gisin shared a picture of herself posing in the hallways of a hospital. Her leg and wrist were wrapped in braces, and she gave a thumbs-up while smiling at the camera. In the caption, she expressed her gratitude for the love she has received since the injury.
“There is so much love coming my way. It’s hard to express how extremely grateful I am for every doctor, nurse, helicopter pilot, helper, coach, physio, and every single human being that helped me in the last couple days. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she wrote.
The two-time Olympic Gold medalist received an outpouring of love from friends and well-wishers, including Shiffrin.
Shiffrin showed love to Gisin by reacting with the emojis, “❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹.”
In Gisin’s post, she revealed that she can still move her body, and she considers herself “very lucky” to still be able to move. While she is still in recovery, she is still “pushing the limits and walking around.”

The Swiss ski star underwent two surgeries in her cervical spine and wrist and is set to undergo a third surgery this weekend.
She was training in preparation for the World Cup events when the unfortunate crash occurred. No clear timeline was given for her recovery. However, she is said to be recovering well, given the circumstances.
When Shiffrin Spoke About the Aftermath of Her Crash
Like Gisin, Shiffrin has also encountered a crash while on the snow. She was leading the second leg of a slalom race in Killington last year when she crashed and somersaulted into the safety nets.
She sustained injuries to her stomach and had a puncture wound. She was out for two months before returning to the snow. Afterwards, she revealed she was struggling mentally, even though she had recovered physically.
“From the outside you look fine, you’re back skiing again – but you’re not OK yet,” said Shiffrin… Sometimes I’ll get a random vision of crashing. It might not be the Killington crash, it could be the course in front of me, that I have this random vision that I’m in the nets again and something else is stabbing through me,” she said.
Despite it all, Shiffrin noted that recovery is a “step-by-step process” and said that she was grateful to be back in the game. She has now won 105 World Cup races, snagging the record for the most World Cup wins by any alpine skier.
