Mikaela Shiffrin is back to business. The alpine skier is currently enjoying time with fiancé Aleksander Aamodt Kilde after her historic comeback at the Winter Olympics.
The 30-year-old ended her Olympic medal drought of eight years at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Kilde, however, couldn’t participate due to recovery from a shoulder injury.

Shiffrin recently shared a slideshow of photos with her fiancé after the Winter Olympics. It included two reels: in one, the Olympic champion danced while cooking pancakes alongside Kilde; in the other, she was warming up for the final leg of the season, which begins next month. The American skier captioned the Instagram post:
“Time with my forever valentine, recovery, good food, training… What more could a girl ask for heading into the final weeks of the race season?”

Kilde won silver and bronze in the downhill and Super-G events, respectively, at the 2022 Winter Olympics. The Norwegian skier sustained a shoulder injury in a severe crash in January 2024. Although he underwent multiple surgeries, the 33-year-old couldn’t recover in time to compete at the Winter Olympics.

Meanwhile, Shiffrin solidified her position in the FIS World Cup with her slalom victory at the Winter Olympics. She has already won the slalom category at the World Cup and is on course to claim the overall title. The 30-year-old previously won the World Cup trophy five times between 2017 and 2023.
The Colorado native had struggled to regain form after the heartbreak at the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, where she crashed out of multiple races and finished fourth in the team combined event. For the first time since her Olympic debut, she returned home without a medal.
Shiffrin’s battle with injuries compounded the challenge. She suffered a near-fatal crash in November 2024 during a World Cup meet in Killington, Vermont. Refusing to give up, she returned in time for the Courchevel, France, meet in January 2025. She also won a team gold medal at the 2025 World Championships.
At the 2026 Winter Olympics, Shiffrin initially struggled, finishing fourth in the team combined event and 11th in the giant slalom. But she saved her best for last, winning the slalom event and overcoming reigning slalom world champion Camille Rast of Switzerland, who took silver.
