Mikaela Shiffrin’s fiancé, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, recently gave an update on their potential wedding time ahead of the 2025-26 ski season. While Shiffrin has been chosen as a member of the USA’s alpine skiing A team for the upcoming season, Kilde is making a comeback to the Norwegian national side.
He had not been part of the World Cup circuit following a life-threatening crash at a downhill race in Wengen, Switzerland, on January 13, 2024, which required him to be airlifted to the hospital.
What Update Did Mikaela Shiffrin’s Fiance Give About Wedding Plans with the American?
Shiffrin and Kilde got engaged in April 2024, announcing it on Instagram with pictures where the American was seen showing off her engagement ring.
In a recent interview with Austrian newspaper Krone, Kilde was asked about potential wedding plans. He responded that there is no definite date yet, although he mentioned that it could happen after the Olympics, depending on circumstances such as retirement, noting:
“Maybe after the Olympics, if one of us retires or something, then we’ll have time to party.”
In the same interview, Kilde reflected on how their relationship deepened after his serious injury in the Wengen crash. He recalled that Shiffrin spent the night with him in the hospital, a moment that felt special to him despite the circumstances. During that time, he realized she was “the woman of my life” and knew he wanted to ask her to marry him.
Notably, Kilde has now fully recovered from the injuries he sustained last year. While Shiffrin is one of the greatest skiers of all time, with 101 World Cup wins, Kilde is also an accomplished skier, having claimed 21 World Cup victories and two Olympic medals, including a silver in the combined and a bronze in the Super-G event.
