Mikaela Shiffrin opened up about her 2026 season, offering a measured reflection on a campaign that combined achievement with perspective. While the results speak for themselves, her focus was on the journey behind them.
Even after such a big season, the Olympic gold medalist expressed that she’s still motivated and already thinking about what comes next.
What the 2026 Season Meant to Mikaela Shiffrin Beyond the Results
Shiffrin reflects on a season that somehow felt bigger than the results. There was the Olympic gold in slalom, a moment that quietly rewrote her story on that stage, and then the long grind of the World Cup, where she kept showing up, race after race.
Along the way came another Crystal Globe, her sixth overall, built on consistency more than anything else. Shiffrin sealed it on March 25, 2026, at the World Cup Finals in Hafjell, Norway, finishing 11th in the final giant slalom, which was just enough to clinch the title. It was not about dominating every single race, but about staying in the mix week after week.
After the season came to a close, Shiffrin took a moment away from the slopes to put her thoughts into words. Instead of a typical celebration post, she chose to share something more personal. On X, she penned a heartfelt note that reflected her gratitude and the emotions of the journey. It read:
“In writing this, I realize that words are truly not enough to convey all my feelings…and just how grateful I am to my team for all of your support this year. Big heart. Big energy.”
