Recapping Chock and Bates’ 2026 Winter Olympics
The 2026 Winter Olympic Games were an eventful one for Chock and Bates. The duo competed in the team and ice dance events and won medals in both for Team USA.
After winning their seventh national title earlier this year, Chock and Bates qualified for the Team USA Olympic roster. They first competed in the team event, where they placed first in the Rhythm Dance with a score of 91.06. The duo followed that up with another strong showing in the Free Dance.
Chock and Bates then competed in the Ice Dance, where they won the silver medal, finishing narrowly behind Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron. Only 1.34 points separated the two teams at the end, and there was even controversy over the result, with some feeling that Team USA should have won.
The American duo then competed in the Winter Olympics figure skating exhibition gala to mark the conclusion of the Games.
Bates was later named one of the flag bearers for Team USA for Sunday’s closing ceremony at the 2026 Winter Olympics, alongside hockey player Hilary Knight. Chock revealed the news to Bates during a Team USA practice session in a heartwarming moment.
