Zauchensee Super-G Initially Set to Feature Lindsey Vonn Back on World Cup Calendar With New Date

A new date has been revealed for a World Cup Super G race that was previously scheduled to feature skiing legend Lindsey Vonn.

A new date has been announced for the previously cancelled Super G race at Zauchensee, Austria, that was set to feature Lindsey Vonn. The event will now be held at Soldeu, Andorra, on February 28, 2026.

Race Featuring Lindsey Vonn Now Set To Take Place in Andorra

The race was scheduled for January 11 but was cancelled due to high winds and heavy snow. The extreme weather meant that the track was deemed unsafe for competition. Vonn and the other athletes were unable to get more practice under their belts ahead of next month’s Winter Olympics.

While the race has now been postponed, the cancellation of the original Super G event could be a big blow to skiers who were on the periphery of Olympic qualification. The event will now be held at the Soldeu ski resort in Andorra on February 28, 2026, following the conclusion of the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina.

FIS Alpine shared the update with a post on the account’s Instagram story:

The race will now also feature a Downhill event that will take place on Friday, February 27. The replacement Super G event will take place on February 28, followed by another Super G event already listed in the calendar on March 1.

It remains to be seen whether Lindsey Vonn will compete in the event in Andorra. The veteran alpine ski racer claimed an impressive Downhill win at Zauchensee prior to the cancellation of the Super G race. She is primed for another strong run at the Winter Olympics, where she will hope to add to her tally of one gold and two bronze medals.

Vonn Hailed Zauchensee As Week To Remember Despite Race Cancellation

Despite the cancellation of the Super G race, Vonn was in great spirits after the weekend’s action in Zauchensee, Austria. The 41-year-old called it a memorable weekend and said that she was delighted to be leaving after sharing a win and a podium with her teammate.

“What a life,” Vonn wrote on Instagram. “Disappointed we couldn’t race today but leaving with a win and a podium with my teammate is an incredible feeling. It’s a week to remember!! Now it’s back to work and more races next weekend.”

The win in the Downhill event marked Vonn’s 84th win in a World Cup event. She is ranked 10th on the list of most World Cup wins, with teammate Mikaela Shiffrin in third place with 106 wins to her name.
