‘I’m Close to Another Win’ : Lindsey Vonn Reacts To Another Podium Finish As She Eyes Winter Olympics Gold

Lindsey Vonn secured a second-place finish in the Tarvisio Super-G to claim her seventh podium of the season just weeks before the Winter Olympics.

Lindsey Vonn continues to maintain her podium consistency. The veteran alpine skier secured another podium finish as she finished second in the Super-G event at the FIS World Cup meet held in Tarvisio, Italy.

Vonn has already qualified for the Winter Olympics scheduled next month. The quadrennial event will be held next month in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Lindsey Vonn Reacts After Securing Seventh Podium Finish This Season

Vonn participated in the World Cup event held in Tarvisio under challenging conditions. Visibility was low, and many skiers struggled to reach the finish line. Yet, the 41-year-old managed a second-place finish, while Germany’s Emma Aicher outpaced her by a whisker to claim the top spot.

Vonn mentioned the race in a post-match interview as she stated:

“It was tough conditions with the visibility, but I’m really happy to be on the podium again. Of course, I’m close to another win, but it is what it is. I think I’ll save the hundredths for Cortina.”

Vonn has clinched a podium finish in at least seven of the eight World Cup races she participated in throughout the 2025-26 season. This makes the American a top contender for a podium finish at the Milano Cortina Olympics next month in both the downhill and Super-G events.

Lindsey Vonn’s Overall Track Record Ahead Of Milano Cortina Olympics 2026

Vonn had retired from alpine skiing in 2019 due to recurring injuries, after winning a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships. However, in late 2024, the skier decided to test herself, announcing her comeback after undergoing knee surgery.

The alpine skier bounced back in style at the FIS World Cup event held in Sun Valley, Idaho, around March 2025, where she stood second. Vonn later won the World Cup event held in St. Moritz around December 2025, making her the oldest female skier to achieve the distinction.

The 41-year-old alpine skier has participated in four Winter Olympics from 2002 to 2018, and won three medals [including a gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics]. The alpine skier also won a significant number of medals at the FIS World Cup, as well as the alpine skiing World Championships.

As the Milano Cortina Olympics commence on Feb. 6, Vonn would like nothing better than to sign off her career on a golden note with at least a podium finish in both events, if nothing else.
