Lindsey Vonn completed her final preparations before she takes the slopes in St. Moritz for a set of downhill events. Vonn will eye a podium finish after winning a medal in the 2024-25 season for the first time in seven years, the oldest woman to do so in skiing history.
Vonn reversed her retirement after initially calling it quits due to injuries in 2019. With that, she became a beacon of inspiration to many, demonstrating a level of prowess at 41 that most only dream of.

In an Instagram post, the 82-time World Cup winner shared pictures from her final training session and expressed anticipation for the races ahead, scheduled for Dec. 12-13, 2025. She wrote:

In 2025, the Olympian, who was the first to shatter Ingemar Stenmark’s legendary Crystal Globe record, often posted updates on her progress and training journey, both on the slopes and at the gym, leading up to the World Cup season. Lindsey Vonn On The Mental Toughness Ahead Of The Final Season Of Her Career
The 2010 Olympic gold medalist has faced her own set of challenges in her career, undergoing multiple knee surgeries and a partial knee replacement in 2024, just months before her first World Cup in six years. While many doubted her comeback at 40, Vonn has always been determined to ski, aiming to make history at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics as one of the oldest women to compete at that level.
Her experiences have only made her mentally tough and motivated her to continue competing at the highest level. In her Instagram post, she discussed how often the mental aspect of the game surpasses the physical demands of the sport.
She also highlighted that these aspects of the game are part of an athlete’s life, but it’s up to the athlete to choose whether they focus on the brighter side or view things negatively. The 41-year-old shared that she always sees things in a positive light and even inspires the youngsters in her eponymous foundation to do the same.
Besides skiing, Vonn has built a diverse business portfolio, launching her own skiwear collection and investing in various companies, including women’s sports, among others.
