Nebraska Volleyball’s Laney Choboy Expresses Love For the Huskers Team
Choboy has anchored Nebraska’s defense and helped the Big Reds record a stellar season this year. She had a great showing in the NCAA second round, adding 12 digs and two service aces to help her team defeat Kansas State. Despite posting double-figure digs in the Elite Eight, she couldn’t move past Texas A&M’s aggressive play, thus missing another title run.
After the upset, the defensive specialist shared a group photo of her team on Instagram and expressed her love and admiration for the Huskers, writing, “I will never forget this team.”

Texas A&M’s upset was underscored by its dominance at the net, handing Nebraska its first home loss since November 2022. The Aggies posted 17 blocks and hit .275, the highest percentage allowed by the Huskers’ top-ranked defense this season. Nebraska fought off elimination by winning a 37–35 fourth set before falling 15–13 in the fifth, as Kyndal Stowers (25 kills) and Logan Lednicky (24) powered Texas A&M into its first-ever Final Four.

In a match against Illinois this year, she recorded her career-best 20 digs and helped her team with 15 digs in a face-off against Minnesota. The Nebraska junior will return with Harper Murray, Bergen Reilly, and Andi Jackson for the Youth Volleyball Camp, scheduled for Jan. 18, 2026.
Choboy Once Revealed the Huskers’ End Goal
Choboy has stated that lineup roles are secondary for Nebraska, noting that the coaching staff, led by Dani Busboom Kelly, has several liberos to choose from. She stressed that the team’s priority is a national title, not personal accolades.
“It’s like our end goal is to win a Natty (National Championships) and that’s what we are working for. We’re not working for like, ‘Oh let me be the libero’, we are working for a national championship.”
This season, the five-time national champs set a program record with a .351 hitting percentage, ranking first in the nation. They also recorded one of the longest home winning streaks at 63 matches before it ended on Dec. 14, 2025. Additionally, the squad’s 48 consecutive sets won marked its longest such streak since achieving 53 straight sets in 2007.
Nebraska Volleyball bid farewell to four seniors: Allie Sczech (Opposite Hitter), Rebekah Allick (Middle Blocker), Maisie Boesiger (DS/Libero), and Taylor Landfair (Outside Hitter).
