After her exploits across the world and for the United States at the Olympics, Jordan Thompson added an accolade to her name by winning the AU Pro Volleyball Championship. The format of the tournament is quite different, with the lineup of the four teams changing every week and the leaderboard serving as the sole metric for determining the four captains.
The 2025 edition was Thompson’s first appearance in this competition, and she made it count in gigantic proportions. The 28-year-old concluded her campaign with 3,563 points, including 229 kills, and also served as captain for three weeks, which helped explain her consistency and dominance throughout the tournament.
What Message Did Thompson Share After Winning the AU Pro Volleyball Championship 2025?
Thompson has played the sport in several leagues worldwide, including her time in the Turkish league with teams such as Fenerbahçe and Vakifbank S.K., as well as developing competitions like the LOVB. Despite this experience, Thompson hasn’t forgotten her roots and the sheer happiness she receives from playing the sport.
In an Instagram post after winning the tournament, Thompson shed light on her initial days of playing the sport, stating, “when I was younger, my cousins and I would grab a volleyball, go outside, and play until the streetlights came on. It was one of my favorite things in the world. It brought me so much joy to share the sport I loved with some of my favorite people in my life.”
Thompson further compared the joy she had of playing the sport to her AU Pro Volleyball campaign. She wrote, “that’s kind of what AU felt like, honestly. To share the court with new and familiar faces, with people who have the most genuine hearts and love for the game was something so special.”
For her performances in the AU Pro Volleyball Championships, Thompson was included in the season’s all-season team featuring the likes of Natalia Valentin-Anderson and Morgan Hentz. Thompson also had a rewarding season in her first year for the LOVB Houston earlier this year, winning the LOVB Pro Opposite Hitter of the Year award.
What Is the AU Pro Volleyball Championships’ Impact on Thompson’s Pro Career?
Thompson’s experience at the AU Pro Volleyball Championships also had a profound impact on her professional career, where she competes in the LOVB and will be featured in its next season, starting on Jan. 5.
Speaking about this impact in an interview, Thompson said, “This I think, really helped me fall in love with the sport again. Professional careers come with ups and downs, so moments like this are really important and so impactful, I think, to keep us going.”
In this debut season, Thompson finished over 500 points ahead of the second-place holder, Reagan Cooper, who concluded her campaign with 3015 points.
